Airdate

Ready For Airtime

Every so often, a new band begins to break that is as refreshingly original as it is musically excellent. In that light, we introduce you to Airdate, an as-yet unsigned four-piece pop/rock band from eastern Long Island. The band is comprised of Doug Del Gaudio (lead vocals, guitar), Daniel McCabe (bass), Stephen Forys (drums), and Christopher Loret (guitar), and is garnering a great deal of notice of late because of their seemingly long-forgotten creative process: Airdate is serious about having fun.

According to the act's official bio, Airdate began in the spring of 2000 when Del Gaudio and Forys met at Center Moriches High School after finding similar interests in their taste and passion for music. After years of playing together and recording some acoustic demos, producer/engineer Anthony Santonocito encouraged them to expand their writing skills further by recording an EP with at Killingsworth Recording Company. After months of writing and recording, they crafted six songs for their debut EP, Problems, Problems. Guest musicians on the record included Chris "Chachi" Guglielmo of Bayside.

In the summer of 2006, McCabe and Loret joined the act. During the past six months, Airdate's fan base has been growing thanks to Internet portals PureVolume and MySpace. According to the band, they've had more than 200,000 plays in a short time. Fans who have heard those tunes will no doubt be anxious to hear the band's new work as well.

"We recently got finished in the studio recording three new songs at Nada Recording in New Windsor," reported Del Gaudio. "The songs were produced by Ava and Mia Koo and engineered by John Neclario. After having the new songs posted on MySpace and PureVolume, our online fan base grew tremendously within a matter of days. We have had a lot of awesome people come our way in the music business, which we are very thankful for. We also have been playing a lot around the tri-state area, and watching our fan base grow every time we play. We love it."

In autumn 2006, Airdate signed with former Capitol Records A&R rep Loren Israel to be the band's consultant. Israel has worked with Jimmy Eat World, Sugarcult, Plain White T's, Less Than Jake, Rock Kills Kid, and other emerging national acts.
With help like that, the future of this rocking, upbeat band seems to be quite bright.

"As far as the future goes, we just want to make it to the top," said Del Gaudio, a full-throated vocalist backed by a tighter-than-tight band in Forys, McCabe, and Loret. "We want be able to take our lives on the road, and just rock out and play music to thousands of people every night. When you walk out on a huge stage in front of thousands of people, chanting your name, your hair is standing up on the back of your neck, cameras flashing are and your heart is racing faster than you ever thought it could, that's the feeling we want, and we aren't going to stop until we get it."
