The other day, we were checking out a rehearsal studio when an all-female rock band showed up for their practice time. Hmm … tube tops – wow, that means it must finally be summer! That means things are going to be cookin' really soon with outdoor festivals and club shows all over the region. Studio News gets inside the walls of the area's recording studios and rehearsal halls to bring you the latest news about area musicians and their recording projects.

We'll kick things off this edition with news of the popular Natural Sound Studios in Patchogue, where Dan reported some hot news about area recording artists.

"New to Natural Sound Studios this month is Clearview, a talented original alternative rock band based in Suffolk County. The band features Greg Murphy on guitar, Dan Townend on guitar, Chris Rizzo doing vocals, Dan Lozowsky playing bass, and Jay Rosado on the drums. The guys booked time to record their tunes for an upcoming CD release. Mike Herz handled engineering duties. Also in was solo artist Cindy Zies to work on her original compositions with engineer Ryan Nagle."

Mike at VuDu Studios in Freeport reported something we've known for a long time: This cutting edge studio is the recording site of tons of national releases. Here are the albums that have been recently released or will be in the weeks ahead: Hopesfall's new album, Magnetic North, was issued on the national Trustkill Records on May 15. Victory Records, which has used VuDu often in the past, released Cinematographic by The Junior Varsity on June 10. A month later, July 10, Vagrant will issue Come Back To You by Down To Earth Approach. Project86 has a new release to hit stores today (June 19) on Tooth & Nail, Rival Fractions. Bela Kiss' The Hoarde was released on Hotfoot on June 10, while Lady Fantastic will issue "Paper" on No Milk Records on September 6. Whew!"

Some other great bands have been in doing various recordings," reported VuDu. "A Farewell Fire is in for their second full length. This is serious heavy hitting aggressive grooving music. Look for the release. The Scenic, from Philly, was here again doing a second EP. Longtime friend Matt Morse recorded his new EP. 2 Sweat, from Chicago, will be back again doing three or four more songs, and hopefully the list will continue." "Dean Parrish's new single "Soul Seven," featuring the songs "It'll Never Be Over For Me" and "Unchain My Heart," was released on April 23 on iTunes and is already a hit, receiving five-star reviews," reported Sabella. "Dean's vocals for both songs were recorded here at Sabella, and the songs were mixed here as well. With the success of this new single along with the Lord Large single "Left, Right, and Centre," Dean is a busy man.
